Partnering for Employment: How Our Mission Impact Team Connects Job Seekers to Opportunity
June 23, 2025At Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia, our Mission Impact team plays a vital role in helping individuals access meaningful employment. This team, includes dedicated Intake Specialists, who respond to referrals and reaches out to job seekers with one goal in mind: helping people gain competitive employment with Goodwill.
To strengthen our community connections, the team regularly attends events hosted by partner agencies. These opportunities allow us to meet individuals face to face and share how Goodwill supports people in their employment journey. Here are the types of events we frequently join or co-host:
Informational Sessions
These virtual or in-person sessions provide job seekers and partner staff with a clear overview of Goodwill’s mission and services. Attendees learn about:
- Our focus on hiring individuals who face barriers to employment
- Supports and services available to Goodwill associates
- Paid “learn while you earn” programs
- Frequently hired positions and our 50+ employment locations
These sessions help participants better understand how Goodwill operates and how to take the next step toward employment.
Career Seminars
As capacity allows, we offer seminars focused on a variety of career development topics. These sessions are typically paired with a brief informational overview and can be hosted at your location or at one of our Goodwill Academy™ of Virginia sites.
Hiring Fairs
We often take part in traditional hiring fairs where job seekers can meet directly with recruiters to learn about current openings. When individuals are ready for employment, our team may conduct on-site interviews with the potential for next-day hiring. Goodwill is always glad to join existing job fairs and can also work with your organization to host events at your location or ours. When we co-host a hiring event, we often combine it with an informational session for maximum impact.
