New Site Provides Additional Convenience for Donors in Hilltop Community
May 8, 2018VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (May 9, 2018) – Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia will open its newest attended donation center on May 12 at 1124 First Colonial Road in Virginia Beach, just east of North Great Neck Road. Goodwill converted a former Southern Bank branch to create the 2,700-square foot donation site.
Donation attendants will be on site seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to assist people who donate gently used goods to support Goodwill’s programs for individuals facing challenges to work.
“We are excited to expand our footprint in Virginia Beach and make donating gently used goods more convenient for neighbors surrounding the Hilltop area,” said Ed Mack, Goodwill’s director of real estate and facilities. “Donations from this site will be sent to Goodwill retail stores, where shoppers can enjoy quality goods at great prices. The community’s support helps Goodwill operate programs that helped more than 2,100 individuals secure work with hundreds of employers last year,” added Mack. “We are proud that they entrust us to keep 40 million pounds of goods out of local landfills, too.
Goodwill operates five attended donation sites and accepts donations at its 16 retail stores across the Hampton Roads region. This is Goodwill’s second attended donation center located north of Interstate 264, following the Shore Drive attended donation center.
