ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager, directs the work tasks of Retail Associates and other retail employees/workers assigned to that facility, documenting any personnel issues that occur and reviewing with management at the next available opportunity. Accountable for all retail facility operations in the absence of other retail management team members.
Open store and prepare facility for business day in the absence of Store Manager and Assistant Manager. Close store, reconcile cash with daily sales reports, and secure facility for night in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant to the Manager.
Conduct quality assurance inspections and monitor production levels based on store needs.
Prepare and maintain records of store operations including daily sales reports, cash deposits and opening/closing reports.
Responsible for reporting Workers’ Compensation claims in the absence of other retail management team members.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receiving, Sorting and Pricing Workstations:
Greet donor vehicle courteously and unload donated goods with care
Issue receipts to donors as requested
Sort and deliver donated textile materials to Sorting, Grading & Hanging Workstation
Review and utilize current Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall bulletins to prevent unsafe items from being sold in the retail store
Communicate to donors why certain items cannot be accepted by Goodwill
Assist in the uploading/downloading of trailers as needed
Refer donors to appropriate sources of information related to IRS donation guidelines
Sorting and Hanging Workstation:
Inspect donated goods for quality to determine marketability
Tag donated items according to Goodwill’s rotation system
Hang/tab inspected goods for placement onto retail sales floor
Produce appropriate number of textile items each day according to Goodwill’s minimum standards
Sales Floor/Cashier Workstation:
Assist customers in locating and/or selecting merchandise
Process customer sale transactions by ringing the sales on a multi-key cash register and/or POS Computer System, collecting the payment, making change, bagging the merchandise and thanking the customer for shopping at Goodwill
Merchandise quality items on sales floor to maximize profits that are used to fund GCVA’s mission-based programs
Accurately conduct sales transactions and maintain cash and credit card control by following proper procedures regarding voids, refunds, checks, credit cards, etc.
Give excellent customer service and remain calm and professional under stressful situations
Use math skills including adding, subtraction, division, multiplication and percentages
Perform other duties as required or directed which may be necessary in order to facilitate the mission of the organization
Promptly greet all customers with a friendly smile and acknowledge their presence in the store
Maintain the sales floor and inventory in a clean, neat and properly displayed manner
Maintain a professional appearance at all times
Perform general housekeeping duties as needed or assigned
Adhere to all Goodwill policies and procedures as reviewed by a management team member
Strictly adhere to confidentiality policies; ensure confidentiality of company records and information obtained in normal course of job duties
Attend store meetings as scheduled
Maintain a safe work environment at all times by following company safety regulations
Immediately report all incidents of theft (both internal and external) to a management team member
Maintain personal workspace to include, but is not limited to: security, cleanliness and energy efficiency by turning on and off equipment/lights as necessary
Work with a management team member to complete required employee training
Provide assistance and support to other Goodwill staff as necessary
