Summer Reading Musts

By Laura Faison on May 11, 2015

Summer time means vacation, longer days, and a lot more reading!  Looking for suggestions for some great summer reads? I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorites!

  1. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

girlonthetrainIf you enjoyed reading “Gone Girl” then you will love this book.  I read it in about 3 days and could not put it down!

  1. The One That Got Away by Simon Wood

onethatgotawayHave a weekend get away planned and need a quick, thrilling read?  The one that got away will do the trick.  Another great thing about this book….. if you have a kindle, you can read it for FREE!

  1. The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grisson

kitchenhouseThis book came out a few years ago, but if you haven’t read it you need to add it to the top of your must-read list.  It’s definitely not a light hearted read, but a fascinating look into life on a Virginia plantation pre-Civil War.

  1. Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill

heartshapedboxDon’t let the author’s name fool you, Joe Hill is the son of Stephen King. I was pleasantly surprised by this book!  Normally I’m not a fan of the honor genre, but I flew through this one.  Just don’t read it before you go to bed.

  1. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson

letspretendBe prepared to literally laugh out loud.  Jenny Lawson is one of my favorite bloggers and her book did not disappoint.  My friends and I still reference stories in this book and we read it almost 2 years ago.  If you end up liking this one there is more good news.  Her next book will be released in September!
