Spring Fashions 2015

By Laura Faison on Apr 10, 2015

At the beginning of every season we see stories and blogs about “the season’s hottest trends”.  However, what I find in these articles are trends that they found on the runway, not things that I would ever wear in real life.  I’m a 29 year old Marketing Coordinator who works at Goodwill.  Not a runway model.  In light of the fact that most of us reading this blog are real women with a real life, I decided to highlight some of this season’s hottest trends that you can actually wear.

  1. Bermuda Shorts

THANK YOU fashion gods for bringing this back! For those of us who don’t have the envious “thigh gap” Bermuda shorts are the perfect solution.  Every Spring I dread the time when I put on a pair of shorts and the following happens; walk, walk, walk, pull shorts down, walk, walk, walk, pull shorts down, etc. All of this of course followed by chaffing that prevents me from wearing shorts for the next 3 days.  So all hail the return of the Bermuda short – with one caveat.  No jean Bermuda shorts! I feel like I don’t even need to explain why. SpringFashion1

  1. Polka Dots

Is there anything cuter than polka dots?  If I could wear polka dots every day I would be one happy girl.  The fact that its trending this season means I’ll be taking full advantage of all things polka dots!  Don’t limit it to just your clothing; get some polka dot flats, add polka dots to your nails, even a polka dot headband! SpringFashion3

  1. Rain Coats

It’s always great when fashion and practicality comes together.  I know we’re all ready to get rid of the coats but alas there are a few rainy months where having a rain coat is necessary.  Rain coats trending = super cute rain coats available EVERYWHERE! So pick up like 7 of them.  I mean a girl needs a cute rain coat for every day of the week.  SpringFashion6

4.  Gingham

Gingham always brings back memories of my Sorority days….or my toddler days.  Gingham can be tricky.  Wear too much and you’ll look like Mary Ann from Gilligan’s Island.  My suggestion for gingham this spring is to keep it simple.  Find a nice pair of gingham dress pants in tan or light pink.  A pretty gingham dress with a jean jacket and sandals is a classic look and a great way to incorporate this season’s trend.SpringFashion7

  1. Blue and White

Want to be known as the fashionista in your book club or neighborhood?  Mix a couple trends together.  Blue and white polka dots! Blue and white gingham! Black and white is so boring so this trend is a great way to keep things simple and classic but with a little twist. SpringFashion10
