Strengthening families by providing tools for education, financial stability, healthy relationships and connections to resources.
A key to sustainable employment is in the ability for the individual to budget their paycheck and manage their finances.
In 2008, Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia partnered with St. James’ Episcopal Church and Virginia Credit Union to provide alternative resources to pay day lending. This was the beginning of our goodChoice program- a collaborative community solution providing short term financing and long term financial literacy.
Today, we recognize that one of the keys to sustainable employment is in the ability for the individual to budget their paycheck and manage their finances. Our goodChoice program continues to provide financial literacy through classes on Basic Budgeting, Using Credit to your Advantage, and Planning your Future. These classes are open to all through our Community Employment Centers and schedules are posted monthly.
