July Marks 25th Anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act

By Laura Faison on Jul 01, 2015

July marks the 25th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act. The ADA was the world’s first comprehensive declaration of equality for people with disabilities. This is a time to reflect positively on a law that has made a great impact on the lives of people with disabilities and our country over the past 25 years.

The law’s intent – “to assure equality of opportunity, full participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities” – is what Goodwill’s mission strives to provide for many of the individuals that we proudly serve through our vocational job training programs.
